Everyone wants a functional and up-to-date kitchen. But, not everyone is ready to do a full kitchen renovation every eight to 10 years. If you are happy with the bones of your kitchen but still want to refresh things, you do have some great options.
Cabinet Hardware
The fastest upgrade you can make is a change to the cabinet hardware. All you need is a screwdriver and about 30 minutes and you have an almost instant new look.
Sink & Faucet
If you have an older drop-in stainless steel sink, it can make the whole kitchen look older than it is. Switch it out for a newer farmhouse look that fits the same cutout and you will feel like you have a new kitchen. You may want to consider deeper wells to add a bit of luxury. And don’t forget to include a gooseneck faucet.
Backsplash
If your counters are in good shape, change just the backsplash. This is a great way to get that up-to-date feel without much work. Most kitchens don’t need a lot of tile for a backsplash and this project can often be completed in a day.
Countertops
This one might take more than a weekend, but it is still a relatively simple upgrade that makes a big impact. Countertops are often the single item that dates a kitchen most. By switching out just your countertops you can completely change the look of your kitchen. For kitchens that have center islands, you might consider changing either the wall countertops or the island but not both. This can be a cost-saving way to change the look substantially. If you do this, don’t try to match the two, go for an obvious contrast. It will create a dramatic, designer feel.
