John’s Lumber has been in business since 1947. Over the years we have been able to understand and meet the needs of the professional contractor/builder. The services we offer are a direct result of listening to all of our great contractor and builder customers. Offering solutions to add value, reduce costs and make the services more attractive to the end customer. The result is a better value for the customer, resulting in more sales, smoother running jobs and a happy result for everyone involved. John’s Lumber takes pride in being a go to for contractors and home builders throughout Metro Detroit, and hopes to provide a great experience that only a local business can offer.
Johns Lumber provides accurate blue print take off services. Using a state of the art, computer aided take off system, nothing is overlooked. This thorough process starts from the ground up. Reviewing foundation plans, verifying beam locations to ensure proper sizing of floor framing members. Detailed cad drawings map out the installation process of all engineered I-joist floor systems. Wall frame construction is reviewed for proper wall heights and sheathing material. Special consideration is given when reviewing for window & door openings to properly size header materials. All components are engineered for proper roof & floor loads for industry specifications. These are just of few steps involved in the take off process. From your blue print our experienced staff can generate a comprehensive list of material to complete your project.
John’s Lumber offers delivery service of all materials. With our fleet of trucks, we can offer job site delivery, some with truck mounted lift trucks. We can place material in the most efficient place on your job site where applicable, thus eliminating the time consuming and expensive job of moving material at the site. We pride ourselves on accurate deliveries, on time, and where you want them. Upon request, we can breakup deliveries into stages, thereby reducing job site theft or damage from weather. We understand the importance of getting the material to the job accurately, on time, and in the same shape as when it left our yard.
Job site pickups
John’s Lumber understands material pickups from job sites and how they can affect your business. Material left on the job site too long can disappear or become useless by the elements, costing every one. We offer timely pickups of stocked material, insuring material is off your job site and returned for credit when applicable.
Store Charge Accounts
Most contractors and builders got into the business because they love building things, not for the paperwork associated with the business. No one likes paperwork, it slows business down, and causes massive headaches at the end of a busy day. That’s why John’s Lumber offers in store charge accounts, so you can pay your bill once a month, not every time you need material. At the end of each month, you’ll receive a detailed breakdown of what material was used on each job, allowing you to keep track of expenses on a per job basis. A copy of every receipt is included, broken down by job address. Keeping track of what was used where has never been easier.
Selection of materials
John’s Lumber stocks most common products needed in the industry, but we realize it’s impossible to stock everything. Today, the specialized product offerings from most manufacturers is virtually endless. John’s Lumber maintains lines of communications with 100’s of manufacturers and vendors to supply just about any product your job calls for. We are pleased to use our experience to help fulfill your material needs, with high quality produces sure to satisfy the most discerning customer. If you need it, we can get it, for any project, of any size.
Call ahead fulfillment
We are happy to gather your material based on a phone or fax order before you get to the yard for quick pickup. Simply call your salesperson, tell them what you need and we’ll get it ready for you. No worry, no hassle, just come in, grab your materials, and get to your job, simple as that.
John’s Lumber takes pride in the years of experience our employees have built up. Many of our team members have been with us for much of their career, and train our new members with that same dedication and knowledge that helped us build our reputation. Those years come with the benefit of seeing just about everything in building. Turning to our staff for help in solving tough building issues is as easy as asking for help. If, for some reason, we don’t know the answer, we will know where to get it.
